One of the first things that people tell you when you have a child is how fast the time goes by. Not that I didn’t believe them, but I truly had no idea just how fast the time would go. It seemed like we had just welcomed him into the world and before we know it, Cooper’s birthday was almost here. We wanted to keep his birthday simple but special. Dawn did a great job of coming up with the idea for his party, “Little Man” theme, the challenging part was in making it all come together. Since we always call Cooper our "Little Man", we thought it was a perfect theme! I tried to make everything from the cake to decorations to invitations consistent with the theme and boy did I have a GREAT time doing it!!! It took a lot of time and effort but we managed to pull it off.
We really wanted our closest friends and family, those who have been there for us and Cooper throughout his first year, to join us in celebrating. Fortunately, that is exactly how it turned out. Also, we were extremely pleased that my parents were able to visit, even though they had just spent a week here the month before. The party was exactly what we had wanted and hopefully everyone enjoyed it as much as we did.
The great thing about Cooper’s birthday falling on a Saturday was that we could celebrate the entire weekend. To be honest, we actually started on Thursday when we took him to make his birthday Build-A-Bear. We also managed to squeeze in pictures with the Easter Bunny. Friday we went to breakfast with Nana & Papa and christened his new wagon which was his 1st birthday gift from the two of them. Saturday was his party and we later grilled out with some friends. Sunday we all went out to brunch, took Cooper to the park, and broke in his new bike (another birthday gift).
We hope Cooper is able to look back one day and appreciate how special his 1st birthday was. We hope the letters each guest wrote will further help Cooper remember how truly special this day was and how much everyone at his party love him. We appreciate each and every one of you who helped make this day all that it was for him.
