Our adventures at the park

We finally had some nice weather in late January and decided to take advantage of it by taking the girls to the park for the day.  So we packed them up and headed down to Piedmont Park.  I tried to be smart and park further out to stay away from the bulk of the traffic, something I would definitely later regret.  With Dawn being 28 weeks pregnant (and a little slow moving) I had both girls.  They acted as if they were giving away free biscuits because they couldn't get to the park fast enough.  And of course, we passed what seemed like several hundred squirrels on the way to the park.  Each time she would see one Sullie would pull like a husky in the Iditarod.  Always the follower, Maggie decided she might as well tug me in that direction too.

Finally the four of us (Sullie, Maggie, and I and poor Dawn lagging behind but trying like crazy to keep up) made it to the dog park.  As we expected, the girls had a blast.  Maggie acts like she is running for mayor and has to play with (or at least sniff the butt of) every dog there.  Sullie plays some with the other dogs but in more interested in the true love of her life, her tennis ball.  They played and played until they were wore out.  The walk back to the car was not quite the adventure the walk in was, but by this time we were all tuckered out and couldn't get there quick enough.

The girls didn't realize this but we had a little surprise in store for them, a quick trip to the pet store for that dreadful four-letter word - bath!  They were actually very well behaved, I assume because they tired themselves out at the park.  Well, there was one minor incident.  I forgot that they are not fans of us using blow dryers to dry them off (not to mention the industrial size ones) and tried one on Sullie.  It took her all of a half of second to jump out of the tub (which is about four feet off the ground) and run into the other part of the store.  She stopped at some man's feet and looked up to him as if she was asking to be saved from her abusive father.

We finished them off and since they were so well behaved, Mommy spent a small fortune on treats for them.  We packed it up, headed back home, and called it a day.  We'll be sure to let you know how we are able to manage when we throw the baby into the mix.
