Valentine's Day

Scott and I had decided a few weeks ago that we weren't going to go all out for Valentine's Day this year.  We agreed that we would simply go to dinner and that be all.  I did, however, put it on Scott to choose a place which he was fine with and decided he'd make it a surprise.  A week or so went by and I asked him if he had made reservations.  He somehow had been confused as to when we were going and thought it was over the weekend when Chris and Allie were here.  I thought "great, we'll never get in anywhere now......better get ready for some of Bert's chili from the Waffle House."  Later that day he said the arrangements were made and that I would never be able to guess where we were going.

Before I knew it, Monday was here and it was Valentine's Day.  I didn't know what to expect but he did tell me he'd have to pick me up early from work and that we were going to midtown.  We arrived home and he had an arrangement of gerber daisies (my favorite flower) for me.  (Apparently earlier in the day he had to call poison control because Sullie ate part of a stem that fell to the floor as he was trimming them to put in water, but I digress).  We exchanged cards and gifts then headed to midtown.

I had no clue where we were heading, even after Scott said we just passed the place.  It ended up being at an Italian Steakhouse called Pucci that he had been wanting to take me to for a while now.  It was a perfect night, with all the rigors that have come along with being pregnant we haven't had much time for nights like this.  The food was great but the best part was enjoying each other's company.  We could have been eating cereal for all we cared.  But the meal came to an end and we headed back home.  Earlier, we had contemplated going to the movies.  We later laughed at ever thinking this was an option.

We may not have done anything lavish or extraordinary, but this was a very special Valentine's Day for us.  With the baby arriving in 9 short weeks (hopefully) we realize that we will have fewer opportunities to do things like this.  Don't get me wrong, we are both ecstatic to be parents and cannot wait for the baby to be here, but we are smart enough realize our lives will change forever, in many, many ways.
My beautiful gerber daisies!!

Before we headed to dinner--30 weeks pregnant.
