Christmas Fun

It was nice to have some time to do stuff as a family around the holidays.  We did our best to take full advantage of the season and expose Cooper to all the festivities.  One of the fun things we did was take Cooper to ride the Pink Pig at Macy’s in Lenox Mall.  We had heard a lot about it, but had never seen it firsthand.  Cooper certainly did not seem disappointed.  In addition to the ride itself, Cooper was just as excited to see all the other children who were there.  Before we knew it, the ride was over and it was time to move on to Santa!

Cooper had already sat on Santa’s lap in New York and was not the least bit afraid, he was just very curious.  In fact, curious enough to give a tug to Santa’s beard.  We wondered if his reaction would be the same this time.  It was almost identical, minus the beard tugging.  He just sort of stared at Santa appearing curious, confused, and amazed all at once.  We weren’t able to get a smile out of him, but we still managed some very cute pictures.  We hope his curiosity does not turn to fear next year!

We also were able to take Cooper to see the Christmas lights at the Botanical Gardens.  We were excited to see his reaction to all the bright lights since he was pretty taken in with the few that we had at the house.  The only downfall was we had to arrive a little before it was completely dark out in order to keep him on his schedule.  At the end it was fine though; there was only a short portion in the beginning that it was not completely dark.  Cooper seemed to really enjoy all the lights and made the experience even more enjoyable for us.

Cooper was also able to meet several of Mommy’s friends at the annual cookie exchange.  Daddy thought he’d be watching football in the basement with him the whole day but he was kidnapped by the women instead.  We also took him to feed the ducks for the first time at Smyrna Village.  He wasn’t sure what to make of the ducks and couldn’t figure out why his sisters couldn’t come along.

Having Cooper this year made us appreciate so many things this holiday season that we have taken for granted for so long.  We feel so blessed to have had this time to do these special things with him and start our own special holiday traditions.
