Football is the biggest reason why fall is our favorite time
of the year, or at least it always had been.
That all has definitely changed with Cooper, especially as he
grows. Apple picking, pumpkin patches,
and Halloween are all things that we always enjoyed, but Cooper has definitely
taken it to a whole different level.
We took Cooper apple picking for the first time in early September. We took him to an orchard in Ellijay where
there was actually a festival going on that weekend with food games, pig races
(yes, with real pigs!), clogging (which apparently Southern for tap dancing),
and tons of other stuff. Cooper enjoyed
every second of it from the pig races, to the bouncy pillow, to watching the
cow get milked. Oh and I can’t forget to
mention the tractors. The boy is
apparently infatuated with them because he wanted to sit on and attempt to
drive every one he saw. Picking the
apples had to be the best part for all of us, even Coop. He realized what we were doing early on and insisted
on picking his own, as well as carrying his own bag. It was quite a day and we were all wiped out
on the ride home!
A couple weeks later we took Cooper to a pumpkin patch to
find some pumpkins to carve. Sticking
with the tractor theme, that is the first thing we saw when we arrived. This time, however, he actually got to ride
on one. Well, pulled behind one at least
which was pretty cool to him. It was his
first hayride and he couldn’t have enjoyed it more. Cooper enjoyed the petting zoo quite a bit
too, that is until the donkey he was petting thought his hand tasted pretty
good. The rest of the time he was just happy to pull
the wagon around with our pumpkins in it.
He’s becoming such a big boy now and wants to do everything on his
own. Hmmm, wonder where he get’s that
from???
Although we had already visited one pumpkin patch, we had to
go back to Uncle Shucks again this year.
This is hands down the best one we’ve been to yet. Coop helped me shoot corn out of the potato
gun (that’s right) until he realized that they weren’t ever going to let him
shoot it. Then he made his way over to
the kid’s corn maze where he quickly blew us off for a pretty little blonde
girl who he chased around the maze for the next five minutes. From there it was on to feed the goats. Actually, after the donkey incident we
decided to watch the goats from afar.
Then it was onto Cooper’s favorite…..another hayride! I think he enjoyed this one more because he
could see more and there were more children on it. He was very disappointed when we got off the
trailer and did NOT get on the tractor itself.
After a few pictures and a walk through the pumpkin patch it was back
home.
We still love our football, and thankfully Cooper does
too. But it’s moments like these where
we make memories that we’ll cherish forever that make fall our favorite time of
the year.
