We had been anticipating Labor Day Weekend for several
reasons. For one, Dawn always has an
extra long weekend with Friday and Monday off.
Also, Auburn was opening their season at the Georgia Dome on Saturday. Most importantly, our good friends Brian and
Heather and their son Hunter were coming up for the weekend to go to the game
with us. Dawn was actually able to sneak
off early on Thursday so Cooper and I met her at the office and after 8 years,
I finally got to see the EY office. We
had a nice lunch then spent the afternoon at the zoo. We hadn’t been since Cooper was only 2 months
old so, needless to say, he enjoyed it quite a bit more this time around.
Since there was also a game at the Georgia Dome that night,
Friday we decided to go downtown and check out all the festivities going
on. Although the Auburn game was still a
day away, being in that atmosphere definitely put us in game mode watching all
the Tennessee and NC State fans get ready for their game that night. There wasn’t as much going on as we had
hoped, but Cooper did manage to find some nice little Volunteer fans to throw
the football with. Well, that is until
he threw it in the water and made the little boy cry. That prompted us to call an end to the day
and head back home. The Reynolds’
arrived later that night and the holiday weekend had officially begun!
Saturday was finally game day! Unfortunately the game was too late so Cooper
wasn’t able to go with us, but he was lucky enough to stay with Dustin and
Leslie and have a sleep-over with his good friends Bryce and Hudson. The five of us headed to the dome and enjoyed
the time before the game. Although it
was a good game and Auburn was in it up until the end, they ultimately lost to
Clemson. We still had a great time as we
always do with the Reynolds clan.
Sunday was pretty low key, we grabbed lunch at Heather and
Brian’s favorite restaurant here in Atlanta.
Shortly after that they were on the road heading back to Alabama. Monday was also pretty laid back but we did
manage to make it up to the Marietta Square for a festival that was going on. The weekend flew by but we had a blast the
whole time. Having the extra family time
in addition to having such great friends come to visit was such a
blessing. These times seems to come so
sparingly that it really makes you appreciate them when they do take place!
